Are we ready for the Industrial Revolution 4.0?

In a recently released report from IBM, we are facing a transitional period for development that relies less on brick and mortar and labor and more on interconnectivity, agility and development of different skills.

Spawned by businesses, politicians and academics, the new industrial revolution will move from using IT and electronics to  automate manufacturing into developing cyber-physical systems. loosely defined as using electronics to manage mechanical systems. It develops a Smart Factory where machines talk to one another. It can predict failures and perform preventative maintenance functions. It also can standardize manufacturing from machine to machine in faster timelines. In other words, we move from plug and play to plug and produce. Read More

Another cool list we appear on…

Community leaders knew when we formed Greater Mankato Growth, Inc. in 2007 we were certainly taking a more unique approach to regional, community based business development.  But I’m not sure we realized the name we selected would be viewed as far reaching, future positioning and trend setting as it appears to be.  We are delighted Christina Green chose to call us out and place us on the list in her current blog post “Chamber of Commerce”: What’s in a Title…thanks for the kudo’s!  Read her full post:  http://frankjkenny.com/chamber-of-commerce-whats-in-a-title/

Cities Asking for Citizen Feedback

We now have an opportunity to contribute to updating that vision going forward as the cities of Mankato and North Mankato look to make our region an even better place to live, work and play. YP 200 member celebration

Young Professional Membership Committee Co-Chairs Dianna Lyngholm and Jaci Sprague celebrate reaching 200 members!

This past week we celebrated our 200th Greater Mankato Young Professionals (YPs) member.  In fact, today we reached our 204th YP member and the numbers just keep climbing.  Why is this important to members of Greater Mankato Growth and to our community as a whole?  It’s important because the growth in the YPs is not just a number — it’s indicative of the energy and excitement that is growing among those who have recently entered our workforce and have chosen to live and work here. Greater Mankato’s “coming out” party

We all know about the great growth and vitality the area has seen in recent years. Now we’re going to share it with the rest of the state in our first ever Twin Cities area summit on development. On Oct. 14, area leaders and commercial real estate professionals will be talking up the opportunity to do business in our area at the Mankato Real Estate Investment and Development seminar held by the Minnesota Real Estate Journal. The seminars are attended by real estate brokers and developers from around the state as part of their continuing education requirements. Attendance can range from 75 to 600. We’re hoping for something in between.
