On our Election Toolkit website, you’ll find online candidate profiles, candidate forum videos and details on how and where to vote on November 6. Our online candidate portal features information provided directly by the candidates themselves including biographical information and their response to a questionnaire. Elections are one of the most important and effective ways citizens can make their voices heard. To help voters cast an informed ballot, Greater Mankato Growth in partnership with KTV, Mankato’s public access television station, held a forum with the candidates running for the seat: Representative Jack Considine (DFL) and Joe Steck (R).

Upcoming Candidate Forums for City of Mankato & Blue Earth County

20160428_104242_candidates button_300Primary Election Day in Minnesota is August 14, 2018. At this election, voters will determine which candidates will move on to the November General Election for federal, state and local races. This year, an extraordinary number of candidates are running in the Primary Election for open seats for the City of Mankato Mayor and City Council as well as Blue Earth County Board of Commissioners. To ensure that the public has an opportunity to engage with these candidates and evaluate their qualifications prior to casting their vote, Greater Mankato Growth will host candidate forums for those running in the August 14 Primary Election for City of Mankato Mayor & City Council and Blue Earth County Board of Commissioners. The public is invited to attend all of these free events. No registration needed.

Looking for Great Candidates for Local Government

I-want-you-small-for-webLike it or not, for good or bad, local government has a big impact on businesses in Greater Mankato and indeed, our overall community. Luckily, we have a strong tradition of well-run, financially-strong, clean local governments that have been a great asset, but this didn’t come by accident. It took dedicated women and men willing to step up and bring their expertise and sound judgment to bear in service to the public. Always remember that it only takes one election to make a mess of the progress we’ve collectively worked so hard to earn in our community. To be clear, this isn’t a statement about those currently in office, rather an argument that our democracy works best when we are engaged and involved in our government. That’s why it is critical that citizens are able to choose from a strong slate of candidates for local office at this November’s election. This body is responsible for the education of our most valuable asset – our children – and for responsibly managing nearly $100 million in your taxpayers dollars. It’s critical that you exercise your right to vote in this important election.
