Grassroots Support Needed to Fund Highway 14

Hwy 14The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) announced this week that it is applying for a $25 million grant from the federal government’s BUILD Grant Program to help fund Highway 14 expansion from Nicollet to New Ulm. MnDOT has committed to fund the difference between the $25 million grant and the full cost of the project if Highway 14 is selected for this federal grant.

We need your help! Public support is an important aspect of the federal BUILD grant program. MnDOT has asked Highway 14 supporters to submit as many letters of support for the project as possible.

Format: Here is a letter of support template.  Letters must be addressed to the US Secretary of Transportation, Elaine L. Chao.

Greater Mankato Construction Showcase

road constructionGovernment agencies in the Greater Mankato area are ramping up for one of the largest road construction seasons in recent history in 2018. To help the public prepare, the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) will host Mankato’s first ever multiagency construction showcase on Wednesday, February 21 from 4 – 6 pm at MnDOT District 7 Headquarters, 2151 Bassett Drive, Mankato.  The public is encouraged to stop by and plan for construction in 2018 on major corridors including Highways 14, 22 and 169. Highway 22 Corridor Study Open House

An open house to gather input on the future of Highway 22 from Mapleton to St. Peter is being hosted by the Minnesota Department of Transportation and the Mankato Area Transportation Planning Organization on Thursday, January 18 from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m. at the MnDOT Headquarters, 2151 Bassett Drive, Mankato. Bus Service from Mankato to Twin Cities

To help determine the level of usage and type of users of this service, MnDOT is asking residents to participate in a brief survey.
